Yerlikaya, who became the Minister of Interior in the cabinet formed after the Presidential Election held on May 28, completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Konya. He was born on October 11, 1968.
Yerlikaya, who graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Political Sciences in 1989 from the "Public Administration" department, became a candidate for district governorship in 1990 and served as a district governor in Felahiye, Kayseri, Hilvan in Sanliurfa, and Sarikaya in Yozgat.
In 2003, he was appointed as the Legal Advisor to the Ministry of Interior and as the General Manager of Personnel of the Ministry of Health in 2004. He served from 2007 to 2018 as the Governor of Sirnak, Agri, Tekirdag, and Gaziantep.
Yerlikaya, who was appointed as the Governor of Istanbul on October 26, 2018, is married and has four children.
